So let the incomes of each = Rs. x and Rs. x

and ratio of expenditures = 4 : 3

So let the expenditures of each = y and y

then earnings of each = (income – expenditure) of each

⇒ x – y = Rs. 2000 and x – y = 2000

∴ x – y = x – y = 2000

⇒ x – x = y – y

⇒ y = x

now putting y = x in x – y = 2000 we get
